Video of Nathan opening gift

Christmas pictures!

We had a great Chritmas. Nathan was old enough to enjoy opening gifts. He would rip the paper and say "woooh" it was soo cute. We had a wonderful first Christmas. On Christmas Eve we just relaxed around the house, went to the Christmas Eve service at Harvest with Crystal Lewis, than baked a cake for Jesus's Birthday. After Nathan went to sleep we watched the Nativity and wraped gifts until almost midnight.

It was such a joy to enjoy Christmas with our baby, as we opened gifts Nathan was crawling around and super interested in what we were doing. We took our time and started traditions we can keep year after year.

On Christmas day we went to my parents in the afternoon then went to Matt's family that evening. Everyone was so generous, it turned out to be a wonderful day!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”- Isaiah 9:6
"Thank you Lord for coming to this earth and dying for our sins, we love you so much. To be born in such a humble way, Happy Birthday Jesus! We give this day, and our lives to you."

It's Tree time

We had a great time picking our Christmas tree. Every year we go to Live Oak Canyon to get our live Christmas tree. We search for just the right one. It was fun doing this as a family. We find it, take the ticket off, then give it to the people and they cut the tree down for us. It was $45, tree's arn't cheap these days guess we are paying for the experience. It was worth it. Christmas time is here, yippee. Now it's the proccess of making the time to decorate it, and all that goes along with that. Have a Great Day!

Nathan's first Hair Cut!

This was Nathan's first hair cut, a little shaky but it works. He did well, he was so preoccupied with the mail, he really didn't notice he was getting his hair cut. It is amazing how quickly my little boy is growing before my eyes.

He is very excited about everything and wants to grab and touch everything. Today he grabbed a pitcher of ice tea and dumped it on the ground. I was not so happy about that, it's easy to get frustrated and forget that he is so little and just wants to learn about life. Oh man patience is not only a virtue but a fruit of the spirit. Hope you find yourself blessed.

Nathan is getting into Trouble!

Matt shot this video a couple weeks ago, don't worry Nathan did not get hurt. Although yesterday he did fall and cut his lip, his mouth was bleeding and I felt so bad. He is pulling himself up and getting into everything. He is super quick so before you know it boom. Later last night after the fall he got his hand stuck and pinched in a toy, ouch. That's when we decided to call it a night.

Today he got up in my room on our hope chest and bumped his head and got a bruise. I feel like this is the transition from baby to boyhood and all so soon. I always heard stories of boys hurting themselves, I am definitely not looking forward to this as he grows.

Turkey Time!

Ok so this is a little late in coming, but we had a great Thanksgiving. Nathan LOVED all the food surprise surprise. I would venture to say it is his favorite holiday so far.

So I don't have to many pictures of the three of us. We took this picture a while back and I was considering using it for our Christmas card. We will see, either way here is the Buffington trio. We need to go take pictures again. I love this time of year as it is time for families to get together. I am looking forward to starting new traditions and enjoying the holidays as a family.

Hamburger and Bean Pie - Pumpkin Style

OK so it's been awhile since I have posted a cooking adventure. This one actually turned out to be a success, Yahoo!! It was the first time I actually cut an onion, I hate onions for those of you who don't know. So I was proud of myself. Any suggestions on how to cut an onion without making me cry would help

It tasted like a chili pot pie. If you look hard enough you can actually see a pumpkin face as the topping. I got the recipe from my sister Laura (Thanks Laura). If you want to give it a shot here it is

1 lb Ground Beef
1 Can Pork Beans
8oz can of tomato sauce
3 tablespoon brown sugar
1/4 brown onion

Cook ground beef with onions until Brown, drain it and stir in pork and beans, tomato sauce and brown sugar. Bring to boil, then pour into Casserole Dish. Role out biscuit dough into circle the size of your dish. Cut out pumpkin face. Bake uncovered 15 - 20 minutes at 375*

It is so cute, he seems to love flavor and has Even tried chili peppers (thanks Matt). When we gave them to him and he wanted more. Typical boy feed him and love him and he is a happy camper!!

BIBLE STUDY NOTES!!

I did a bible study on our role as a Mother, thought I would post it up for any and everyone to review.

M.O.T.H.E.R

Pass cookies out: These cookies are symbolic of our kids. Cookie = Child
- It takes time for them to become cookies: add flour, egg, etc
- Need to cook for a while to become good – Sometimes we need to be cooked but it produces a good cookie
Pass out store bought cookie: Notice the difference between both cookies. Isn’t it interesting but homemade cookies always taste better.
- Same with our kids, it’s at home that we make great children
- Show measuring spoons, need these to make great cookies.
- Ever tried to cook without measuring? Doesn’t taste as good: too salty, etc
- Need measuring spoons to make great cookies, need mothers to make great kids
- Measuring Spoons = Mothers
- Mothers help pour the right ingredients to create great kids.
- Pass out sharpies.

M = MINISTRY
- C28 example – Prayed for a ministry realized my child is my ministry
- What is our ministry? Prov 22:6 –“train up a child in the way he should go.”
- God has given us these ministries don’t take it for granted.
- Is your ministry dying? Thriving? Surviving?
- Matt – Do not make one of these little ones to stumble.
- Pray for your kids and husband.
- Lead by example 1 Peter 3:2-4

O = OTHER HALF
- You are the other half, the wife. Husband should be your priority. If your husband relationship is not working, your parenting and child will suffer.
- EX: When you have a baby, guy isn’t getting any. All attention on child
- Make your man a priority – Proverbs 31: 10-1210 Who[a] can find a virtuous[b] wife? For her worth is far above rubies. 11 The heart of her husband safely trusts her; So he will have no lack of gain. She does him good and not evil All the days of her life.
- Look good for your man, take care of the temple. 1 Cor 6:19-20
- Love him with his love language
- Do it because we are following Christ’s example, to love us when we sometimes get nothing in return.

T = TOUCH
- When our kids get a boo boo, what do we do? Kiss it and it really does make it feel better.
- When you are feeling fat, depressed, crummy, how much does a hug make all the difference
- * Read internet print out
- John 9 – Heals the blind man by touch – Spits on the mud touches his eye
- Matt 14:34 – 36 “ People who touched the hem of the garment were healed.
- Possibly a metaphor, when we touch one another it brings healing
- Don’t underestimate the power of your touch.

H = HEART OF THE HOME
- Face it we are the heart of our home. The decorations, encouragement, We decide the tone of our house.
- Psalm 128:3 “Your wife shall be like a fruitful vine In the very heart of your house, Your children like olive plants All around your table”
- Happiness is homemade. What is the mood of your house? Do the people who live there feel loved?
- Think about your childhood, how would your house be without your mother?
- Think of a heart, without it there is no ife, your body is dead. Without mothers the house is lifeless.
- We keep everything going, working.

E = EDIFY
- “If you can’t say something nice, don’t say it at” who always said that?
- Sarcasm, words hurt. 1 Thess 5:11 11 “Therefore comfort each other and edify one another, just as you also are doing.”
- So often we tear each other down instead of encouraging them.
- Need to build up our children. Let them know hoe great they are, don’t call them names. They get name-calling at school; need to know when they get home that they are loved.
- Ex: When I was chubby girl growing up, kids called me names, had confidence

R = REWARDING
- It is such a reward being a mother, to see your child grow into a God fearing adult.
- To pour into them and see them share, listen and love others.
- 1 Corinthians 9:24[ Striving for a Crown ] Do you not know that those who run in a race all run, but one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may obtain it.
- Parent in such a way that you might win. Yeah you get tired, yeah its hard to continue but son’t top. Know that all your hard work will bring up a great child.
- Read Ruth. Naomi was obedient and God gave her a child. She had no clue that her child would be the grandfather to DavidAs you raise your child you never know how much your obedience will effect not only your child, but generations to come. It is all worth in the end

Car Show X 2

Last Sunday our side business had 2 shows. Matt spent most of the weekend working, setting up, and doing the shows. Matt helped my uncle Johnny with a car show called Contour de elegance (a high end car show), and we DJ'd with the fire truck at a fire station expo. Overall God gave Matt strength, and thanks to the help of family, we were able to do both successfully. Here are a couple pictures of the events.

Please continue to pray for our business as we are trying to book the "Festival of Lights" which is Riversides month long festival. We are still waiting for a reply and contract from Margie. Also pray that God would continue to open up doors for us and guide our paths. Thanks SO much.

PLAYING IN THE SINK!

I gave Nathan one of those teething biscuts and it got all over the place. So I thought I would rinse him off in the sink and let him play a little. He had a great time getting wet with his clothes on.

Impossible Raspberry Cake.

I should have known by the title of this recipe that it was hard to make. Since I like a challenge and I had raspberry's I thought I would give it a try. The recipe seemed pretty easy, except I needed unwhipped whipping cream and I had no idea what that was. I thought humm maybe it's dream whip so I used that. It was a two layer cake and the recipe said to take the cake out of the pan right out of the oven, so plop the first cake splat all over, and I stuck the second one on top of that. Since the cake looked so bad, I thought OK I will put the Whipped cream all over it to hide the deformities. No one told me the cake is supposed to cool first, needless to say it melted and the cake looked pretty interesting as you can see. It tasted way better than it looked. So I have two options here, give up, or try again. I am looking forward to my next cooking adventure.

OAK GLEN OUTING!!

Sorry I haven't blogged lately our power cord broke to our lab top. We went to Oak Glen last Friday with Matt's family. We had a great time, Nathan loved it. We walked around, shopped and picked raspberry's. Nathan had mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. The weather was cool and clear, it was a great day to be out. I think we might make this a yearly trip. Oak Glen is nice in the fall.

OOPS! Bzzzzzzzz

Matt went to go get a haircut today, and the guy totally buzzed his hair off. Oops. It's a good thing Matt has a ton of hats to wear. Actually the cut isn't too bad, and we can save on shampoo. What are your thoughts about the new dew?
